You're all like spirits

You're all like spirits

And you inhabit the places I have come to fear and the places I have come to love.

You, meanwhile, show no fear - and no glimpse but the humoured curiosity of watching my open eyes lay on the space and people.

You just silently watch me, and go from material body to material body, with those eyes of a thousand years; those eyes which have seen everything, and now stare at me and make me less.

You come to me as a beggar; as a young lady who'd come to me for guidance but will only burn my heart out and devour me with thy eyes.

You're all a spirit; you're all my devil, you're in my heart, my eyes and my mind. Your eyes will follow me to my grave, for they're in me, and not outside.
